Prom!!!

Wednesday, May 11, 2016

One of my most-requested posts lately has been...Prom! I really hope that this post doesn't completely bore y'all, I kind of just started to ramble. But, here we have it, the long awaited prom post!

Before I start, let me just clear something up really quickly- I'm not a senior, this wasn't my senior prom. Where I live, there are a ton of homeschoolers, and so all of the co-ops join up and do a homeschool prom, which is available for anyone in high school. I'm actually only a sophomore. (Have I ever told y'all that before? I don't think I have. Do I seem like a sophomore?) Haha, anyways, thought I'd throw that disclaimer out there.

I guess the beginning of prom would be when a bunch of friends and I went to go get our nails done! I'd never gotten a manicure before, and I really loved it. It's been three weeks since I went, and I still have them! (Well, minus one, but it just fell off this morning.) They've grown out a lot, but I still love them. I'll warn you though, it leaves your nails absolutely dead once it comes off. My nail is super roughed up and short now. Mine tend to grow really fast though, so it shouldn't be too big of a deal. I still totally recommend it!

Next up was the process of deciding hair and makeup. I spent so much time on Pinterest, oh my gosh. I apologize to all of my followers, I totally spammed you all haha. I ended up deciding on a makeup look using my Naked 3 palette- I love that thing so much oh my word. And then I found a hair idea on Pinterest that I based my hair off of. Not going to lie, this isn't exactly how my hair turned out, but I'm still happy with the end look.

This is how my hair turned out when I tried it the day before prom. (Yes I practiced. I'm an easily stressed person, okay?) You'll get to see the day-of hair in a minute. ; )

I also had to pick out jewelry. The hair clip is one that I borrowed from my mom, and the earrings were from my grandma. : )

So now, the actual day of prom. That morning I had a dance rehearsal from 9-11:30, so I had to get up and go to that. Once I got home, I showered and ate lunch, but before I knew it, it was time for hair and makeup! I started off with hair, because, let's face it, hair's a lot less stressful. Makeup always stresses me out. So I did my hair, and then started the process of freaking out while doing my makeup. I love doing eyeshadow, but I never seem to put enough on because I'm typically really light with my makeup. Naturally, you need more for prom, so for the past two years it's basically been me sitting there trying to do my eyes while my mom keeps telling me that I need more eyeshadow. It's honestly hilarious.

Once I was basically ready, I threw a bunch of my stuff in a big bag, grabbed my dress and my shoes, and got in the car to go to a friend's house. About seven of my friends and I had agreed to all meet up at a friend's house to finish getting ready, get dressed, and take a million photos. It was so much fun, it was absolutely hilarious. We were all super hyped up and screaming half of the time. It's a miracle that A: No one lost their hearing, B: None of the moms went crazy and shot us, and C: I didn't lose my voice. Pretty sure our director would have killed us if we'd all lost our voices, haha.

I figured y'all would want to see some photos of the finished look. I have about a million, but I'm only including a couple because most of them include my friends and they might not want to end up plastered all over my blog haha. I'll tell you right now though, they were all absolutely stunning. I have such gorgeous friends!

So anyways, we finished getting ready, binge ate a ton of candy, and took more photos than our memory cards knew what to do with. Then it was time to head to prom! Two of the girls had dates, so they were picked up, but the rest of us single ladies all headed to prom in style- in a limo! One girl's dad arranged it, and it was honestly the most fun thing ever. We were blasting music and just being generally hyper. There was a bottle of sparkling cider, so we drank that and took a lot of photos that honestly look like we had wine. Pretty sure some people would freak out if they saw those, but it was only cider, I swear!

Once we arrived at the prom venue, we took even more photos (what can I say- it's what we do!), and then headed inside. The theme was Shanghi, which wasn't exactly my top choice, but it wasn't horrible. They decorated pretty nicely.

Table Setting
Y'all know that I live in the South, and generally I'm in a pretty conservative environment. I mean, let's be real. I'm in the South. I'm homeschooled. I'm a Christian. And it's great, it's been a great way to grow up. But sometimes, I'm not going to lie- people take it a bit overboard.

As you can see above, there are some lovely fortune cookies. So, naturally, my friends and I were all like, "Oh, cool! Let's open them and see what our fortunes are!" Here's mine-

Yep. A Bible verse. Every single fortune cookie had a Bible verse inside. XD We were all absolutely cracking up. My friend's cookie 'fortune' was "Without God, it is utterly impossible. But with God everything is possible." And she goes, "Hey, does this mean it's possible for me to get a date?!"

So, welcome to homeschool prom.

Our prom serves food, so we ate dinner, and then it was time for the fun- dancing! I don't remember a lot of it, it's all a giant happy blur. We danced for hours, it was great. They played the typical dances like Cupid Shuffle, Cha-Cha Slide, Footloose, etc, and then they played popular music as well, and everyone just jammed out. My group made a bunch of giant dance circles, and guys would run in the middle and do tons of tricks, backflips, etc. The energy was so high, and it was just all so much fun.

In between dances, there was a photobooth, so my friends and I would run in there and take tons of photos. I'm planning to hang those strips up on my wall- I'm keeping them forever.

Then it was more dancing, more craziness. The music blared, and we were all exhausted but it was so much fun. At one point there was a conga line, and every year there's a contest to see which of the guys has the craziest socks (it's a tradition, don't ask xD ), so we did those. There was cake, and laughter, and so many fun memories.

The night wound down around ten-thirty, and one of my friends and I headed back to my house. We crashed in the living room, eating way too many nachos and watching Anastasia, because we are mature teenagers who know how to rock a prom afterparty.

So, in a nutshell, that was prom! It was such a blast, and if you're on the fence as to whether to go to prom in the future, GO. Get a group together and have a ball.

Lately I've been having the absolute worst case of writer's block ever. I just can't seem to come up with good topics to blog about! SO, I'm turning to you all. Is there any type of post you'd be interested in? I've also considered doing a Q&A, although I'm not quite cool enough to do a video like Abbie, Olivia, and Rachel did ; ) (I'm so awkward on camera, guys. It's bad.) But I've thought of doing a Q&A blog post, would anyone be interested in that? Let me know in the comments!

Weekly Wrap-Up

Friday, October 23, 2015

Hello, lovely people! How has your week been? Mine has been busy, but it's been a good week. Lots of school, lots of rehearsal, but lots of fun. Isn't it crazy that October is almost over? The months seem to go by faster and faster lately.

Today is really a lovely day, weather-wise. The temperature is absolutely perfect, not cold or hot, and it's really cloudy. The leaves are changing and all of the trees are orange and yellow. I'm not a huge nature person, but I've got to admit, it's gorgeous out. We went on a walk with a friend today, and I took a ton of pictures. I also somehow ended up accidentally taking a couple of videos while my phone was in my pocket, one of which is just a three-second snippet where you can hear me say, "I am literally obsessed with the Sound of Music," before it cuts off again. Haha, if one video sums up my existence, it would have to be that.

I spent three hours doing the Charleston yesterday, and I'm definitely feeling it today. I'm so sore! If anyone ever says that dance isn't a workout, please send them to me. I'd love to bring them to one of my rehearsals... DANCE IS A SPORT, GUYS!!!

I'm trying to think if I have any other interesting snippets to share with you all, but I'm coming up a bit blank. My life isn't all that interesting, I suppose. I'm going to a murder mystery party tonight though, so I'm excited for that! Those are the best. : )

Made Me Smile:

MY BRACES ARE OFFICIALLY OFF!!!!!!!!! That's right guys, I'm officially free of my metal teeth-cages. FIVE YEARS LATER. Agh I'm so happy about this!! I don't think that I stopped smiling/jumping up and down all day. My family kept commenting that I'm never that hyper! I went to get my flu shot that day too, and I was still in an ecstatic mood. It's kind of hilarious when not even needles can dampen my happiness.

My friend gave me this ring that wraps around your finger and looks like a cat, and it's literally the best thing in the entire world. No kidding. It's perfect.

Playing games with friends outside in the pitch-black darkness.

Taking the craziest selfies ever with some of the craziest, best people ever.

Re-reading Harry Potter.

Long walks around the lake.

Ugh:

Is it seriously almost Halloween? That is absolutely insane I swear October has flown by.

I've been crazy busy lately and school is kind of drowning me. I WILL GET AHEAD AGAIN, I SWEAR.

I'm really frustrated because I feel like I'm not blogging enough and I really need to get better about that. I've been posting twice a week but I really want to post more than that. I'll work on it!!!

Cold weather. It seems like I'm cold constantly, which isn't exactly my favorite thing.

Loving:

The Bonnie and Clyde soundtrack. I'm literally obsessed with it oh my gosh.

Hand-lettering. I hadn't done it in much for a couple of weeks but I've been working on it again, and I really love it.

LOOK AT THESE DOUGHNUTS! I really talk about doughnuts too much...

My army green jacket from T.J. Maxx. It's super cute and it's also really warm, so it's kind of perfect.

Pinning:

I seriously love these watches so much, they're so cool!

Anastasia and Dimitri are one of my favorite fictional couples gah I love them so much.

This outfit is impeccable..

This little bird is adorable!

I will forever love ballet..

I actually lettered this the other day and it didn't turn out half bad, I was happy.

How was your week?

Summer Photo Challenge- Week Three!

Monday, June 22, 2015

Hello everyone! :) Here's the third week of my Summer Photo Challenge! I've been having a lot of fun taking these pictures, although this week I kept forgetting about doing it for the majority of the day, so then I would be frantically trying to decide what to photograph XD Thus why some of my photos are a bit random- sorry about that!

Monday:

I made these cookies over the weekend- they are seriously amazinggggg. They're called Chocolate Peanut Butter Buckeye cookies and I could probably eat an entire batch by myself. Chocolate + Peanut Butter + Perfection. Would y'all like the recipe for these?

Tuesday:

This is a sneak peek for a haul post that's coming up, but I'm in love with this shirt. It's the perfect introvert shirt!! XD

Wednesday:

I take too many pictures of jewelry but I don't ever do anything exciting and I really like this necklace XD

Thursday:

^^This was my day. Not happy.

Friday:

Yep, I'm being a cat lady again. I know that I post cat pictures excessively. Oh well...

Saturday:

I know that no one besides me cares about this haha, but I spent Saturday cleaning my room and I found this necklace broken and was NOT happy. I don't think that I can fix it, and I'm kind of disappointed. I've had this necklace forever and I hate that it just broke like that.

Sunday:

This is a horrible picture, but I was taking it myself and it was the best I could do. Anyways, I've been wearing this hairstyle a lot lately, I really like it. Would anyone like a tutorial?

I hope that you've all enjoyed this post!!! :) What did you do this week? Comment below!

Summer Photo Challenge- Week Two!

Monday, June 15, 2015

Hello everyone! :) Here's my second week of the Summer Photo Challenge!!! Hopefully they're somewhat more interesting than last week's photos haha!

Monday:

On Monday, I worked on a post for you all that will be coming out soon! Here's a sneak peek:) It involved a lot of photography, so it was somewhat of a time-consuming post to put together. It should be out this week!!

Tuesday:

On Tuesday, I did a ton of shopping, and I got these super cute sandals at Charlotte Russe! I've been looking for a good pair of sandals for ages, so I was really happy to find these:)

Wednesday:

I decided to take a picture of this bracelet on Wednesday- not for any particular reason, it's just something that I like a lot and I think it's pretty:) It was a gift from my grandma, and I love the ballet charms- I've always wanted to be a pointe ballerina.

Thursday:

On Thursday it decided to rain, but it was a sunny rain- the kind where everything looks fresh and pretty. So of course, I decided to go outside and take pictures! I thought that these flowers looked beautiful.

Friday:

On Friday, I got the chance to hang out with a friend who I hadn't seen in ages, and of course, we decided to take a ton of pictures XD It was great to catch up with her!

Saturday:

Saturday was the birthday party of one of my best friends, and I made her this crochet beanie as a birthday present. I was actually really happy with how it turned out- I still can't believe I actually crocheted something successfully!!! :D

Sunday:

And to round off the week, we have a picture of my baby;) He decided to hide in some old storage containers that we were getting rid of. I love him!

Well, hopefully this week's pictures were a bit more interesting than last week's! Let me know what you think in the comments below! :)

Mall Haul!

Saturday, April 25, 2015

Hello lovelies! This is a bit belated, but I'm going to post it anyways because I hardly ever have hauls to post, so having one is a bit of an event for me. ;) Anyways, a few weeks ago I went to the mall with a good friend of mine, and we got some really good deals. So of course, I have to share with you!

I had a coupon for a mini item from Bath and Body Works, so I picked up this Hawaii Passionfruit Kiss. I really wanted to get a mini spray, AND IT WAS WITH THE DISPLAY OF FREE STUFF AND EVERYTHING but the girl at the counter was like "Oh no, it has to be a lotion." REALLY? If it has to be a lotion, put that on the coupon! This isn't my favorite scent from Bath and Body Works. It's a bit too strong for me, but that's just a personal thing. It's very fresh and summery! I just wish it was a bit lighter.

Icing was having a really good sale, so we stopped by there as well.
Yes, I know that this is Christmas decor. But I'd wanted this sign since December, and they had it on sale for $2. I couldn't say no!!

They also had some really cute bows when we were there. I got this adorable navy and white chevron bow for around $2.

I also really liked these striped bows. They're so bright and perky, great for summer!

Icing really was having the best bow sale ever. This lace bow is literally my favorite thing ever. It's absolutely adorable!!! And it was only $2. You can't beat that.

They were also having a big earring sale, and I got this pack of nine pairs for five dollars. Aren't the elephants and the owls adorable?? I kind of have an elephant obsession, so I LOVE those earrings.

So, that's my lovely little mall haul! I hope you enjoyed it! :):)

Easter Basket Goodies- Better Late Than Never, Right?

Thursday, April 23, 2015

Hey everyone! :) So, I know that this is super late, but I got a few beauty-related items for Easter that I wanted to share with you!

My mom gave me this really pretty anchor ring. :) I picked it out a while back, and she surprised me with it for Easter. :) Love it!

I also got these two Baby Lips, which I am absolutely in love with. The pink one is my first in the Baby Lips Crystal line, and I really like it! It's in the shade Beam of Blush, and it's perfect for my coloring, so for all the blondes out there, I highly recommend this Baby Lips! I also really love the second one, Quenched. It doesn't have any color to it, but it's a great moisturizing lip balm. I probably use it waaaaaaay too much, it's going to be gone fast!

Last but certainly not least, I got this limited edition EOS lip balm pack. First up, can we just take a moment to appreciate the packaging of this set? IT'S ADORABLE!!!!!!! I am in love with it. The flowers are just so springy! Now onto the actual lip balms. I'd already tried Passion Fruit before, and I really like it. It's not my FAVORITE, but I like it a lot. For some reason my EOS usage changes almost constantly, I'm always in the mood for a different one. For those of you who purchased this set, did the passion fruit seem to be a deeper purple than it used to be, or is that just me? I thought it looked like a deeper purple. And oh my goodness, I adore the Fresh Watermelon. I think that it's going to be my favorite summer EOS (after Sweet Mint, of course!). The flavor is just so fresh and watermelon-y. :)

So anyways, sorry that this post was so late coming out. Have you tried any of these lip products? Leave a comment below!

Cute Valentine's Day Gifts!

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

Hello everyone! Wow, Valentine's Day is in FOUR days! I can't believe it! With that in mind, I've compiled a list of some cute V-Day gift ideas. :) These are some of my favorite gifts, that I think anyone would love to receive!

These rings are perfect for Valentine's Day! They look so cute all stacked together. You can find these at Forever 21 for around three dollars.

I love color-themed gifts, and I think that it would be adorable to put a bunch of items like these ^^ in a bag with a tag "Think Pink!" I just included a Baby Lips, a lip gloss from H&M, some hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works, and a cute little pink bear. :)

In my opinion, EOS are always a go-to for a gift! I love the EOS cucumber hand lotion, and I think it's super cute to add a V-Day themed hair tie around it for some holiday flair. And of course, we always need lip balm! I am obsessed with the Rachel Roy limited edition EOS, I kind of stocked up so that I would have them for a nice long time!

Now, what girl doesn't love jewelry on Valentine's Day? I think that this heart necklace is super pretty, and it would make a great gift!
Speaking of jewelry, a locket is a classic Valentine's Day gift. My grandma actually gave me this one, and I love it. :) (Oh, and if you're wondering, the jewelry tree pictured is from Target).

Well, I hope that this has given you some more ideas for Valentine's Day! What do you like to give for gifts? Comment below!
