Hello, lovelies! How have you all been? Enjoying your summer, I hope? Life over here has been the strangest mix of slow and crazy. I guess that's kind of the epitome of summer, y'know? Full of adventures and projects and wide open spaces ready to be filled.
I spent last week at the beach, which was absolutely wonderful. You don't realize just how mentally drained you are until you're standing on the sand, surrounded by the sound of wind and the crashing of waves, and you finally can just breathe. Everyone has a 'happy place', and the beach is mine. I feel like I can think better at the beach. Things seem clearer and easier, and I just feel so darn creative. In the week that I was there, I planned out at least three projects, started mentally choreographing two dances, and spent quite a bit of time thinking about various aspects of my novel. I don't know what it is, but the beach always leaves me itching to create something. Hopefully all of that inspiration will make for a very productive summer!
Now that I'm back home, I'm working on getting lots of various things figured out. I know that technically, most people look at summer as a time to relax, but I think that I'm just a bit too Type A for that. Being the summer before senior year and all, I'm attempting to plan out everything. I'm going on a couple of college visits, trying to find a job, and planning to get my driver's permit. It's kind of crazy to think that it's finally time for all of this stuff. It's always seemed so far off, and now it's...here. It's a little bit scary, really. Fingers crossed that I can get all of this adulting stuff figured out.
In the meantime, I've also put together my yearly summer bucket list. Because hey- what's the season of freedom without some good ole' OCD planning?
-----
// go swing dancing
// write lots of snail mail
// go to the lake
// edit my novel
// get back into hand-lettering
// catch up on my reading challenge
// buy more succulents successfully and keep them alive
// endless coffee dates
// JOURNAL
// get my driver's permit
// become stronger en pointe
// start an etsy shop
// lots and lots and lots of ice cream
// have a few photoshoots
// go to the annual giant book sale
// get into bullet journaling
// turn 17 (!!!!!!)
// have my piano tuned
// organize the massive stacks of papers in my room
// figure out the evils of college stuff
// choreograph/film a piece

~ What's on your summer bucket list? ~
Nice post! I just made a summer bucket list post as well. I love planning things out, but I'm not usually much of an OCD person.

Ooh, fun! Summer bucket lists are great. As is not being OCD- I don't recommend it, haha. xD
DeleteOMG you're turning seventeen!!!
ReplyDeleteOk I totally agree--the beach is one of the best places in the universe.
I LOVE THIS AND HOPE YOU HAVE THE AWESOMEST SUMMER!! <33
IT'S SUCH A WEIRD FEELING!
DeleteIsn't it? I love the beach so much. :')

Thank you! Any summer goals that involve writing are pretty great, in my opinion. ;)
DeleteLOL what happened to Flynn? Dx I really hope you complete all of your summer goals-- it appears like a very doable list and if you feel like towards the end of summer you won't be able to reach them, I'll be right here to encourage you to finish them.

He slowly turned purple and died. *sob* I still have absolutely no idea how that happened...
DeleteThank you so much, Abby! You are the absolute best. <3
Good luck with these! Seems like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! Hopefully it will be!
DeleteNice list! Bullet journaling looks amazing and swung dancing sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteBullet journaling looks so great! And swing dancing is fantastic- I love it.
DeleteDon't worry, Grace Anne. I killed my succulent too. :( Even when following the "barely ever water it" guidelines on Pinterest.
ReplyDeleteIzzy and Flynn are in a better place now.
DeleteNooooooo! Sigh. Poor Izzy and Flynn. Rest in peace, dears. <3
DeleteHaha, I'm the same way too! I have like literally 5 lists of stuff I'm doing over the summer in my Bullet Journal XDD
ReplyDeleteAlso several things on your list look overlap with mine. College stuff, ew. (I got 4 succulents and have killed 1 so far, and have 2 alive and 1 dying soo....)
Good luck with your goals!
XD Type A's unite! *fist bump*
DeleteYour poor succulents! I don't understand how to keep them from dying. Life goal, tbh.
I hope you have a fantastic summer, Hanne!
Do you not drive until you're 18? If so, join the cool club *fist bump* my family doesn't either haha. Love this post <3

No, I'm planning to get my permit within the next two weeks, and I'm sixteen. :)
DeleteYou're turning 17!? That's so exciting! I'm seventeen and it's been a mix of great and stressful. But hey, it's been a great age so far. *winks* even though I still haven't found a job and some days I feel like I need to figure out my life more. One thing I don't like about being seventeen: It means I'm gonna be 18 on my next birthday. *laughs* not sure if I'm ready for that ;P
ReplyDeleteI hope seventeen is a great age for you! And also that you'll look back at sixteen with a smile. :)
What's on my summer bucket list? Get a job - 'cause my sister and her boyfriend are getting really serious and I need money for the bridesmaid dress and shower and gifts when the time comes *winks*
and also, I just want to have fun this summer. There's my short bucket list for this summer. ;P
I hope your summer is the greatest!! XD
The thought of turning 18 next year is already terrifying. I know that you're going to rock it, though! I most definitely will be looking back at sixteen with a smile- it was really a great year. :)
DeleteOoh, good luck with the job hunting!! That's all so exciting about your sister- such a fun time!
Having fun is definitely the most important thing, even if we don't knock off everything on our lists. I hope you have a wonderful summer, Daminika!!

Oh yes!
DeleteI really want to! Now if only my supplies would go on sale...
I have an Etsy shop :)! It's not huge, and I think my blog platform is even smaller (way smaller than yours)... But, for what it's worth, I would love to do one of those "cross-promotion coupons" with you your first week or two, so that maybe it could help you in starting out your business with a bang! And maybe we could do a giveaway at the same time to create even more interest (I would offer one of my custom quote canvases as the giveaway win; you could either offer something too, or not, it wouldn't matter :).)... I think it would be fun :D. Totally up to you, but if you are even sort of interested, maybe you could message me on Google+ :)?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear how your summer plans go :)!
That's so awesome! That would be so much fun, I'll definitely have to reach out once I get my shop set up:)
DeleteHave a lovely summer, Bri!
Hey, I just thought of this, too; and I don't know that you'll see this comment since the post is so old. BUT, when you are ready to create an Etsy account (if you haven't already); let me know! I can send you an invite that will earn you 40 free listings, rather than you just starting it and having to pay :D. (I would get some free, too; I wanted you to know so you wouldn't think I was trying to swindle you into being used, haha. But 40 free listings could get like your whole first two months paid for, and I know as a new Etsy seller I would have loved that, because I wouldn't have been losing money those first few months as I set up my shop and people didn't know about me yet :).)
Deletereading this makes me want to write a list for myself <3 love this!
ReplyDeleteYou totally should!! xx <3 Have the best summer, Elizabeth!
DeleteOH MY GOSH I SERIOUSLY LOVE IT WHEN YOU DO LISTS LIKE THIS. They make me so happy and inspired. I'm astonished by how you can actually come up with 99 of these. xD
ReplyDeletekatie grace
