1. Listen to Ed Sheeran!
Hey, it doesn't have to be Ed Sheeran. (Although I always suggest Ed Sheeran because his music is literal perfection.) But just play some relaxing music- it's a surefire way to destress!
There's something about the familiarity of a favorite book that always calms me down. I love to read Jane Eyre, so sometimes if I'm really tired or stressed I'll pull out one of my many copies and re-read some of my favorite passages. It always helps to get out of my head for a little while.
3. Write it down!
When you're super stressed, sometimes, journaling can do wonders. Just writing down what it is that's causing you stress can oftentimes help to work it out. Also, just getting those stresses out of your head can help a ton, especially if you're trying to sleep. Sometimes you just need to get it all out!
4. Chat with a friend
Speaking of getting it all out, sometimes talking with a friend is the best medicine. Just talking and laughing with someone you're close to is a great way to destress. Just make sure you don't talk to someone who's going to stress you out more!!!
5. Chocolate
When all else fails, go eat some chocolate. I know, it's not exactly the most healthy thing for me to be endorsing. But y'know, sometimes when you're having a rough day, chocolate is just the best option.

How do YOU destress????
Because Ed Sheeran is ALWAYS a good idea xDDD So are books and chocolate!!
ReplyDeleteI LOOOOVE journaling!! It helps so much to write everything down. Just last night actually I found my journal from when I was in seventh grade. It's so funny to see the differences between seventh-grade me and sophomore-in-high-school me x)
Chocolate and best friends never fail xD
Thanks for the tips!!
Ed Sheeran + Books + Chocolate = perfection!!!
DeleteIsn't journaling the best? Ahhh I love finding old journals! It's so much fun to read them and remember old times and see how you've changed!
Glad you liked it!!
Great tips, Grace! Your blog is really cute. :)

DeleteEd Sheeran is actually so relaxing to listen to. I had some remix of I See Fire on replay the other night at 2 am while I crunched on editing the manuscript, and it was so chill. His voice is like butter.
ReplyDeleteTalking about it with a friend is always soo great. It feels like a load is taken off of your mind. And chocolate...you can't go wrong with that-- and dark chocolate is actually good for you! Lots of antioxidants! So we are totally justified. Haha
Ed Sheeran is seriously my favorite. Oh my gosh, I love I See Fire! I listen to that song alllllll the time.
DeleteTalking things over with a friend helps soo much. Yes! The fact that dark chocolate is good for you is an excuse that I use constantly.

ReplyDelete*devours a planet's worth of chocolate*
aHem.
So I have like a PHD in stressing. I'm so awesome at it *nods* and these are really good tips though! I like reading to destress...and also talking about it helps. XD It makes it seem LESS doomsday-ish, if that makes sense? (Or maybe just offloading your problems on someone else makes them lighter? IDEK. BUT IT WORKS. XD)
I also sleep to destress. haha. HEY BUT never underestimate the power of spontaneous destressing naps. *nods*
CHOCOLATE IS THE BEST CHOCOLATE DOESN'T LET YOU DOWN.
DeleteSo am I. Pretty sure I'm a registered professional by now. Talking helps a TON. AND SLEEP OH MY GOSH. THAT'S WHY I LIKE TO SLEEP ALL THE TIME. YOU DON'T HAVE TO THINK WHEN YOU SLEEP.

Wow so much goodness I can't! Great post!
also WHY AM I NOT already following your blog?!?!!?!
DeleteAhhh thank you so much Olivia! Haha oh wow, I would have sworn you already followed!
DeleteAdd-ons:
ReplyDelete1. Go for a run/walk and play music when you go.
2. Drink a really cold glass of water
3. Cuddle with someone. Or your pet. If you have a goldfish that might not work, but basically cuddle with a living thing.
4. Imagine the end, meaning think to when your stressful stuff will be over i.e. to when after you've taken your test, or after you've figured out your class schedule
5. Relax your body. I'm ridiculously tightly wired, and it literally takes me five times to completely relax all of my muscles. It's a good thing to do if you're in a public setting (awesome to do just before you're doing a test.
6. Write fiction. Write yourself a story. Basically just immerse yourself in a different world for a little while.
7. Sing. It's literally so calming to just start singing.
8. Hunker down and just work at what needs to be finished with no distractions.
THESE ARE SUCH GOOD IDEAS!!!!!!!!
DeleteRelaxing and writing and singing all solve so many issue oh my gosh.
Thank you so much!
