Let's face it. We bloggers are strange creatures.
I mean, think about it. We spend half our lives on our laptops (usually being awkward and antisocial), writing up posts for hours on end, creating content for a bunch of people that we've never actually met. When you think about it, that's not the most normal way to live your life.
But we love it, and that's why we do it. As bloggers, however, in addition to being a bit strange on our own, we tend to pick up some rather strange habits as well. It's natural, it comes with the job- but a non-blogger might look at us and go, "Well what the heck is wrong with them?"
It's a common question at this point. But really- can you blame them? Let's take a look through just a few of these bloggerly type things.
- - - - -
1. Assuming strange positions to get the perfect photo.
This can include standing on a chair or bed, crawling on the floor, etc. Because sometimes, you can't get that perfect lighting easily. IT TAKES WORK! (And sometimes like two hours for a single photo but yaknow....)
2. Googling tons of information on HTML and crying because none of it makes any sense.
I'VE TRIED SO HARD BUT I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW BLOGGERS MAKE THEIR SITES LOOK SO PERFECT WITH HTML. TEACH ME YOUR WAYS I BEG.
3. Gathering random bits of packaging to use later for photo ops.
(Is this just me? But the other day I got this really pretty piece of string tied around a journal and I'm OBVIOUSLY not going to just throw it away that could look great in a blog photo.)
I'm pretty sure that I'm basically a squirrel at this point because I have SO MANY things that I keep for no other purpose than blog photos. IS THIS NORMAL?? PROBABLY NOT.
4. Staring at a blank blogger screen for hours because WRITERS BLOCK IS DEATH.
It's the literal worst and it always seems to come when you need to have a post up in exactly 22 minutes or you become the worst blogger ever because you haven't posted in ten million years.
Dramatic? No.
5. Taking more photos of food than is probably necessary.
IS IT MY FAULT IF FOOD JUST HAPPENS TO BE SUPREMELY AESTHETIC?? I THINK NOT!!
#6. Also (kindly) forcing family members to take photos 24/7.
My family is kind of just used to it at this point. Everything is a photo opportunity. E. V. E. R. Y. T. H. I. N. G.
#7 Use blogging as an excuse to get out of socialization.
"Hey, want to go to that party tomorrow night?"
"Oops, I can't, um...I...I gotta blog! Bye!"
#8 Adopt a new vocabulary.
I cannot tell you how many times a day I use the word 'aesthetic' now. Thanks, blogging.
(My sister would also like to add that looking for 'aesthetic' things drives you to take photos of bizarre items. "For example, a pineapple.")
#9 Developing passions for hot beverages, journals, and mugs.
If you aren't obsessed with cute journals, mugs, and at least one form of a hot beverage, ARE YOU ACTUALLY A BLOGGER??? I don't think that you are.
#10 Answering pretty much every question with "blogging".
"What are you doing?" Blogging.
"What's that photo for?" Blogging.
"Why are you on your laptop all the time?" Blogging.
"Why can't you hang out?" Blogging.
"Why are you stressed?" Blogging.
"WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU???"
....Blogging.
- - - - -
So, let's add to the list- what other strange things do bloggers do? BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS I HAD TO CONTROL MYSELF AND STOP AT TEN.

p.s. I did a guest post over at Joanny's blog, and I'd love if you'd check it out. You can find that HERE. <3

DeleteYES YES! Especially the HTML thing.... I'm okay with the visual stuff and can even give a few tips there, if you'd like, but that coded stuff is too weird..
ReplyDeleteIt makes no sense XD Thank you! I may take you up on that sometime:)
DeleteI laughed out loud at this!! (Seriously almost spit out my coffee when I saw the burger picture and the Peeta gif.) Honestly SAME. SO RELATABLE. Using blogging as an excuse to be alone is honestly all I do.
ReplyDeleteThis was a funny and oh so relatable post. Thanks for posting :))))
YOUR NEW PROFILE PHOTO IS THE CUTEST!!

oh gosh. like so many things here are beyond TRUTH. *whispers* *nervously glances around* are you sure you weren't watching me???
ReplyDeleteoh I don't do crazy things for blogging. I don't cook eggs on the car. I don't chase after airplanes for cool photos or lay on the floor for the right shot
I have to admit tho, I'm weirder for instagram photos LOL
*whispers* you never knowwwwww. XD Kidding I'm not a creep I swear.
DeleteXD oh gosh, ya gotta pull out all the stops when it comes to Instagram. #doitforthegram
Yup, yup, yup.

I REMEMBER THAT PINEAPPLE! Pineapples are very important.

I'm so happy that you could relate and enjoyed it, Alyson! Thanks for reading!
DeleteOh my goodness, the HTML & writer's block are both too true! I don't know how many hours I've spent Googling CSS and other kinds of codes to fix my blog "aesthetic" (lol), or how much time I've spent trying to write posts, only to no avail. #relatable
ReplyDeleteI swear the most common search on my computer is probably "CSS to make my blog pretty". XD I'm glad I'm not the only one!
DeleteI LOVED AND RELATED TO THIS POST SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GAH, THIS IS SO CUTE AND PERFECT!!!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 Loving these posts, Graceie! xoxo
ReplyDeleteEEP I AM SO GLAD!!!! Love that you enjoy them:) <3
DeleteMOST RELATABLE THING IN THE WORLD <333
ReplyDeleteI AM SO HAPPY YOU COULD RELATE!!
DeleteOh gosh the searching for HTML thing is so relatable I can't even. Honestly, I never even considered speaking some kind of IT language before, but now I legitimately want to become some kind of expert in coding just so I can make my blog super pretty. I don't get it though. Also, thank you so much for the food pics! It is VERY aesthetically pleasing.

The Life of Little Me
I had to take a coding class this year for school, and I literally picked HTML JUST so I could learn it for blogging. Here's hoping it works! XD Ahh, thanks! I'm glad that you liked them:)
DeleteYes, yes, yes on these! Especially the pictures ones!!!! My family is always sighing because I have to take a picture or have them take a picture of me. And my social media is now different too. ALL CAPS GALORE!!!! Lots of exaggeration and encouragement. sometimes i don't capitalize things to emphasize things. And I actually comment on things and such. Plus, I like writing essays because they remind me a bit of posts.
ReplyDeleteSomeone should start a therapy group for families of bloggers, tbh.
DeleteESSAYS ARE GREAT!! Everyone that I know hates them, but I actually enjoy them. XD Yay for bloggers!!
HAHAHAHAH OKAY SO THIS IS SO SO TRUE. Like I relate to almost ALL OF THESE. I never knew the word "aesthetic" until blogging either. And now when I tell my friends that they're like "what even is a sthetic." or something.
ReplyDeleteAND FOOD PICTURES. Okay. so. We really, really, really shouldn't go there. Um. IT'S REALLY EMBARRASSING HOW MANY THERE ARE. Especially when you have this baking/cooking yummy aesthetic food obsession. Like when I tried to clean my memory card up it was like half food. So random, but all food. I JUST LIKE FOOD PICTURES I GUESS.
OOOH AND CSS/HTML IS A PAIN. I have spent days just so so frustrated and furious at my computer because IT JUST DOES NOT WORK. Aghhhhhhhhhhhhh. Makes me so mad sometimes. But hey I think i've gotten the hang of it a little. :) If you ever need help with coding I'd love to help.
AND WRITER'S BLOCK IS THE WORST. I just have no words for how much I hate it. AAGHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
so obvs this post was really relatable.
XD I've been in the process of teaching my family about aesthetic.
DeleteOh my gosh, I can totally imagine your memory card being 100% food. XD BUT FOOD IS YUMMY AND PRETTY WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE??
Gosh, ISN'T IT??? I may hit you up for coding advice sometime XD
WORST. FEELING. EVER.
Hahaha! I'm so glad you liked it!
These are all soooo relatable!
